Jaredo Opens Up: The Road to Prince of Africa (POA)

Spread the love

Liberia’s very own Jared Christopher Kiyemb, popularly known as Jaredo, has broken his silence and shared the story behind one of the most talked-about projects in Liberian music — the Prince of Africa (POA) album. In an emotional reflection, Jaredo opens up about his struggles, setbacks, and determination to rise again with a brand-new EP: Road to Prince of Africa.

The Beginning of a Dream

Jaredo’s journey started at the age of 12, with a single vision — to become the Prince of Africa. Music wasn’t just a hobby; it was his profession, his voice, and his life’s calling. By 2016, Jaredo had tasted stardom and quickly became a household name in Liberia. But he wasn’t satisfied with just local fame — his dream was bigger: to be heard across the entire continent.

The Rise and the Pressure

In pursuit of that dream, Jaredo announced his debut album, Prince of Africa, promising it would be one of the best ever to come out of Liberia. Fans were excited, expectations skyrocketed, and pressure mounted.

With support from his label, SOG Records, Jaredo moved to Ghana to further his studies while building connections in the music industry. Collaborations with top African artists followed, and things were falling into place. But one major piece was missing — a verse from Wizkid, the superstar around whom the album’s momentum was built.

When that collaboration failed to materialize, depression began to set in.

Setbacks and Losses

The challenges didn’t stop there. A devastating blow came when the hard drive containing all of Jaredo’s unreleased projects crashed, wiping out months of work. Efforts to recover the songs or get artists to redo their verses proved difficult.

To make matters worse, Jaredo suffered a terrible accident that cost him two of his front teeth — and with it, his smile. The pain, hospital visits, and emotional weight pushed him to his lowest point. For the first time, he lost his passion for music.

The Road to POA

Despite these struggles, Jaredo never gave up. Music has always been his way of expressing himself, and deep down, he knew Liberia and Africa still needed to hear his story.

That story is now coming alive in his upcoming EP, Road to Prince of Africa — a heartfelt project that retraces his journey, struggles, and determination to keep moving forward.

“This EP is not just music,” Jaredo says. “It’s my truth. I want Liberians, my fans, and my people to know that the road to POA wasn’t smooth. But this is only the beginning.”

What’s Next?

The Road to Prince of Africa EP serves as both a healing process and a new chapter for Jaredo. It’s a reminder that setbacks are not the end but a setup for a greater comeback.

The Prince of Africa dream is still alive — and Jaredo is ready to reclaim his throne.
